Deputy governor of Beheira witnesses the opening of the Damanhour International Festival and exhibition of women's caricatures at the Misr Public Library in Damanhour.
Dr. Nahal belbaa, deputy governor of Beheira witnessed the opening of the first Damanhour International Women's Comics Festival and Exhibition in the presence of Mr. Kamel Ghattas, assistant secretary general of the governorate, French cartoonist Christine Trax WA / Youssef El Deeb - undersecretary of the Ministry of education in Beheira WA/ Mohammed Bassiouni - Director General of culture in Beheira - founder and director of the caricature Memory Project A.Abdullah Al-Sawy-representative of Awqaf and Al-Azhar and a number of members of the House of Representatives and executive leaders in the province .
The exhibition includes a rare collection of caricatures of women, which are being exhibited in a public exhibition for the first time, for a number of pioneers of the art of Egyptian caricature, namely Joan Santis, Ali rafki, two rockets, Rekha, Zuhdi El-Adawy, tougan, George El-bahgouri, Mustafa Hussein and others, as well as a group of caricatures discussing women's issues and a number of caricatures of pioneering journalist Mounira Thabet, the personality of the festival, with the pen of more than 100 a painter from an Arab and foreign country along with a group of Egyptian painters.
The exhibition also includes the product of free workshops to teach the principles of caricature art and Meadow kheit, organized by the caricature for all initiative of the Abdullah Al-Sawy foundation to preserve the Egyptian caricature heritage, within the activities and events of the festival from 18 To 22 this February, at the Egypt Public Library in Damanhour, the College of Islamic and Arabic studies for girls in Damanhour, and the talent development center at the Damanhour Opera, in which more than a hundred students participated, and professional illustrators attended, in an exceptional event witnessed by the city of Damanhour for the first time.
The deputy governor of the lake stressed that it is a qualitative festival specialized in caricatures of women to stand up to their image, problems and issues, and defend their rights, pointing to the importance of the festival where cultural bridges are established between caricatures of Egyptian and Arab, and foreigners from different countries other than encouraging cultural interaction, and maximizing the return on creativity in the field of caricature.
It is noteworthy that the first Damanhur International Comics Festival, is held under the slogan "with Hebrew comics.. It is organized by the Abdullah Al-Sawy foundation for the preservation of the Egyptian caricature heritage, in coordination with Beheira governorate, and with the support of the Goethe-Institut "program outside the capital's borders", in cooperation with the Public Library of Egypt in Damanhour. The Higher Committee of the festival chose the journalist writer/ Mounira Thabet, dean of Egyptian women journalists, to be the personality of the festival, and the state of France to be the guest of honor of the festival in its first session, and the figure of Bint Al-Balad, one of the most important and famous caricatures of the late Egyptian cartoonist: Mohammed Abdel Moneim Rakha, was chosen to be the theme of the festival.
